A 19-year-old man from Arranmore Island, Co Donegal, has died in Letterkenny General Hospital following a serious assault on the island.
The incident, involving two men, happened around 2.30am in a pub on the island.
It is understood the victim was singled-out by a man who entered the premises.
He is believed to have suffered extensive bleeding following a stabbing and died from his injuries at around 10.30am.
A 39-year-old man from the island has been arrested. He has been taken to hospital and gardaí are waiting to question him.
