Eight people have been hospitalised following two separate crashes in Rush, Co Dublin, involving two Dublin Bus vehicles.

In the first accident, which took place just after 6.30am, a 33 bus travelling from Dublin city centre to Skerries collided with a van on Rush Main Street.

Three passengers and the bus driver were treated in hospital.

As a result of the accident a diversion was put in place in the village.

At around 7.45am a second bus, a 33X, travelling towards the city collided with a car on Corr's Lane in Rush on the diversion route.

There were 71 passengers on board that bus.

Two bus passengers and two people in the car were taken to hospital.

Six of the injured are being treated in Beaumont Hospital and their condition is described as 'stable'.

Main Street in Rush has since reopened to traffic.

Meanwhile, a number 16 Dublin Bus was involved in a collision with three cars on Dublin's Camden Street this morning.

The incident happened just after 9am.

The occupants of one of the cars were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
