Four charged over Kildare drugs seizure

Four men have been remanded in custody in connection with the seizure of €2m worth of heroin at Robertstown, Co Kildare, last Thursday.

The men appeared before a special sitting of Naas District Court this morning.

24-year-old Ian Demon of Deansrath Avenue, Clondalkin, 34-year-old Keith Browne of Deanstown Road, Finglas, and 33-year-old Alan Cleary of Foxdean Green, Clondalkin, were charged with possession of heroin.

They were also charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell or supply.

Michael Moran of Mylerstown, Robertstown, Co Kildare was charged with allowing the preparation of a controlled drug on his property.

All four were remanded to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday.

A fifth man arrested in connection with the seizure was released without charge.

A file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Elsewhere, a 43-year-old man is due in court in Blanchardstown tomorrow in relation to a €6.5m seizure of cannabis in Dunboyne, Co Meath, on Thursday.

He was arrested in Carlow yesterday in connection with the seizure.

A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with the seizure.
