A garda traffic van was set alight in Co Cork last night while a garda was still inside.
The attack took place at around 7.30pm on the Tower road between Blarney and the village of Tower in Co Cork.
One garda was in the Gatso speed detection vehicle when the passenger window was broken and a flammable object thrown into the cabin.
The garda escaped the vehicle uninjured and the fire was put out.
A garda spokesman said the fire damage was not serious but the van will be taken out of service for some time. Gardaí say an investigation is under way.
The incident comes after two other suspected arson incidents at Blarney Garda Station in the past year.
