An analysis of patients at Cavan General Hospital has revealed that an extra two patients are attending there following the closure of Monaghan as a general hospital last month.
The analysis by the Health Service Executive has also revealed that the average number of patients waiting to be admitted to a hospital bed in Cavan has doubled up from .5 per day to 1.1.
The study showed that two extra patients per day need admission from the Emergency Department to the hospital, although there has been no increase in the number of patients being treated in the Medical Assessment Unit at Cavan General.
The study compared the 26 days before Monaghan General went off call and the 26 days after.
