A 55-year-old man has died in a motorcycle accident near Portadown, Co Armagh.

The victim was riding a tricycle-type vehicle when he crashed on the Derrycarne road just before 8pm last night.

No other vehicle was involved in the incident.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses to come forward. The Derrycarne road has since reopened to traffic.

Elsewhere, a man has died from injuries sustained in a road crash in Co Westmeath at the weekend.

The man was injured when the car he was driving hit a wall at Balroe in Ballynacargy at 6am on Saturday morning.

He was taken to Mullingar General Hospital and subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he died shortly after 4pm yesterday.
