Gardaí have confirmed that a Servisair employee in his 20s was arrested and questioned a number of weeks ago about allegations of theft from baggage at Dublin Airport.
The ground services company contacted gardaí following allegations by an anonymous worker at Dublin Airport that the luggage of passengers from some high-profile airlines had been targeted over several years by a number of Servisair employees.
After being questioned, the man was released without charge and garda investigations are ongoing.
He has since been suspended from his position.
It is understood that what is described as a 'small amount of material' was recovered.
In a statement, Servisair confirmed the arrest adding: 'Servisair takes such incidents very seriously and continue to work in conjunction with the gardaí and Customs to ensure that any such incidents are investigated thoroughly.'
Dublin Airport Authority says it has no responsibility for baggage handling at the airport, but is aware of the Servisair investigation.
A spokesperson said DAA would be concerned if such behaviour was found to have taken place.
