Two Co Longford SUV dealers have been told to pay €10.2m to the Revenue Commissioners for underpaying and the non payment of VAT.
It was the first case of this kind ever taken by Revenue at the Commerical Court.
The two brothers John and Pauric Kane run an SUV dealership in Granard, Co Longford.
The case arose from an investigation undertaken in 2004, which found evidence of non-payment of VAT and the underpayment of VAT.
Today, Mr Justice Peter Kelly in the Commercial Court found the defendants had not demonstrated any arguable defence and awarded a judgment against them for the full amounts.
He refused any stay on the judgment and awarded costs against them.
