The jury in the trial of a Cavan man accused of murder has failed to reach a verdict after deliberating over three days.
Trevor McCabe, 34, of Mountpleasant in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan, had denied murdering 33-year-old Darren McGrath in Belturbet in Co Cavan on 20 May last year.
The prosecution claimed he shot Mr McGrath, who was asleep in bed with his partner.
The trial heard that DNA from the victim was found on clothing similar to that worn by the accused.
The victim's partner also identified Mr McCabe as the gunman.
Mr McCabe has been remanded in custody and the jury has been discharged
