A group of TDs and senators has visited Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin to see the conditions there.
Health Service Executive Chief Executive Brendan Drumm is due to attend the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children in the coming weeks to discuss the situation at the hospital.
The committee organised this visit ahead of that meeting.
Last night, the hospital announced it was not going ahead with plans to close two more wards and another operating theatre next month.
One 25-bed ward and one theatre have already been closed.
The hospital management has admitted the closures already in place will mean longer waiting times for children.
