A man was in a serious condition in hospital after he was attacked by a gang early this morning.
The 30-year-old man suffered serious head injuries when he was beaten by five men near the Town Hall in Linenhall Street, Ballymena, Co Antrim, at 1am.
The attackers fled the scene along Bridge Street in the direction of the Harryville area of the town.
Police said they are investigating a motive for the attack.
Detectives appealed for anyone with information on the assault to come forward.
