A 22-year-old man has died after crashing his motorcycle in the first race of the Northwest 200 yesterday.

Mark Young from Cookstown in Co Tyrone was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital with internal injuries.

He died around 11am this morning.

Antrim rider John Anderton, who was in a collision in Tuesday's opening practice session, also remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Elsewere, a man has died after a crash involving three motorbikes in Co Antrim.

Four other people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The collision happened yesterday evening on the Dunluce Road in Portrush shortly after the last two races of the North West 200 were cancelled due to bad weather.
