Police in Northern Ireland fired at a car after the vehicle struck an officer following a collision with a patrol car.
A PSNI spokesperson said the incident occurred around midnight when a Peugeot 406 hit a patrol car in west Belfast.
When the officer left the car she was hit by the Peugeot and suffered a hand injury, cuts and bruising.
A second female officer is being treated for shock. Both were taken to hospital.
Police discharged one shot at the vehicle, which was found to contain a small amount of suspected drugs.
The driver made off on foot.
An investigation by the Police Ombudsman is under way.
