Former Stormont government Minister Ian Paisley Jnr is facing the possibility of a prison sentence or a fine for contempt of court.
The DUP Assembly Member has been ordered by the courts to reveal the source of information he gave to the Billy Wright Inquiry, but is refusing to do so.
Earlier this month the Belfast High Court gave Mr Paisley 17 days to reveal the name of the prison officer he says told him that shortly after the LVF leader Billy Wright was murdered in the Maze jail by republicans in 1997, almost 6,000 prison service documents were destroyed in a move allegedly authorised by senior staff.
That court deadline runs out today but Mr Paisley is still refusing to name his informant.
He has also decided not to appeal the High Court ruling, and has indicated that he may not pay any fine that might be imposed.
His fate may be decided later this month when the case comes before the High Court again.
