A spokesman for the Defence Forces said the viable explosive was found in Ballysheedy, following a planned Garda search.

The find was made in the same area where two devices were made safe last night.

In a separate incident, an Army bomb disposal team in Dublin examined an elaborate hoax in North King Street.
