The security alert in the Poleglass area in west Belfast is over.

British Army bomb experts carried out two controlled explosions on suspect devices attached to lamp posts at Ard Caoin Drive and they have been found to be hoaxes.

Residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

Sinn Féin west Belfast MLA Jennifer McCann condemned those responsible and said they had no place within the community or within society.

Ms McCann said the local PSNI Commander assured her police were working to clear the area as soon as possible.

SDLP Dunmurry Councillor Matthew McDermott also condemned those responsible.

He said it was a sad reflection of the dark and gloomy days that they thought were in the past.
