Two killed in separate road crashes

Two people have died in separate road accidents in counties Tipperary and Kildare.

In Co Tipperary, a motorcyclist his early 20s died after his motorbike collided with a car at around 3.15pm on the Nenagh side of Roscrea.

The road is closed and diversions are in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 0505 24230.

In Kildare, a 27-year-old woman has died in a road accident on the Dublin Road at Maynooth.

The pedestrian was struck by a car as she crossed the road at about 8pm last night.

She was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was arrested at the scene for suspected drink driving.

She was later released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Elsewhere, gardaí have named the 30-year-old man killed in a crash at Raghrabeg, Shannonbridge, yesterday.

He was Shane McKenna of Portnick Drive, Creagh, Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
