Seven members of the Athlone Sub Aqua club, who got into difficulty off the Clare coast this afternoon, have been rescued.
Two of the divers were rescued by a coastguard helicopter; the remaining five were picked up by the dive boat.
They were rescued between 2.15pm and 2.30pm, more than two hours after they began diving.
One of the divers received medical treatement for hypothermia. The others did not require medical attention.
A coast guard spokesman said they had drifted away from the dive boat they had gone to sea in but were eventually located by the helicopter.
They began diving 1km off shore from George's Head, north of Kilkee, at midday.
They were due to be in the water for 30 minutes.
When they did not resurface by 1.30pm, the alarm was raised and the search operation got under way.
