Court - Men to be sentenced

Two Dublin men who pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old boy whom they met through an Internet site will be sentenced at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Friday.

The men met the boy on separate occasions in January and February 2007 in Dublin after making contact with him on a website.

The court heard the boy had begun using internet chat rooms and websites at internet cafes and posted a profile in which he described himself as being 19.

He arranged to meet a number of men on different occasions, some of whom declined to have sex with him because he was clearly underage.

His mother later found suggestive text messages on his phone and gardaí were alerted.

The boy declined to make a victim impact statement.

The court heard that both men made admissions to gardaí immediately after their arrest and were extremely remorseful.

They will be sentenced on Friday.
