A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Eddie Gallagher in Cork on Sunday.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested on the northside of the city at 9.30am this morning.

He is being questioned at Bridewell Garda Station in Cork and can be held for a maximum of 24 hours.

Mr Gallagher, 27, from Ardcullen in Hollyhill in Cork, was stabbed to death during a row at Friar's Walk in the city at around 6.30am on Sunday morning.

He died later at Cork University Hospital.
