Army bomb disposal experts made safe a viable improvised explosive device in the Crumlin area of Dublin last night.

The army was called in when a suspect object was found under a car outside a private house at Raleigh Square just before 10pm.

The remains of the device have been taken away for detailed examination and will be handed over to gardaí for ongoing investigation into the incident.

No-one was injured during the operation and the all-clear was given shortly before 12.30am.
