A 42-year-old woman has appeared at a court in Newry, Co Down, charged with the murder of Maire Rankin in the town on Christmas Eve.
Her next door neighbour, 42 year old Karen Walsh, was charged with the murder. She denied any involvement in the killing.
She was remanded in custody to appear again in court next month.
The 81-year-old widow was found dead in her home on the morning of Christmas day.
She died from multiple injuries.
