He has been named locally as Stephen Quigley.

Detectives said there were signs of injury to the body, which was discovered by a woman in a lane, off Avenue Road, in the town at about 11.50pm.

The body has been removed from the scene following a preliminary examination by the Deputy State Pathologist.

A post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow to establish the exact cause of death.
