Five people are now being questioned in connection following a failed raid on credit union in a south Dublin suburb yesterday evening.
Garda technical experts will today examine two vehicles involved in the incident.
Shortly after closing time yesterday at about 5pm, raiders rammed a 4X4 vehicle into the front door of the credit union on the Main Street in Rathfarnam.
The raiders fled the scene having failed to gain access to the building; the vehicle was found abandoned a short distance away.
A car which was also used by the raiders to escape has also been recovered.
There were no reports of injuries; and no money was taken.
Reports indicate that officers from the Organised Crime Unit fired a number of warning shots during the attempted raid.
Two men were arrested nearby in Churchtown; two other men were apprehended later in the evening - also in the general vicinity - on the Dodder Road.
A fifth person - a 25-year-old woman - was detained last night.
The suspects are being detained at Terenure, Tallaght, Dundrum and Rathmines Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.
