An Irishman has appeared in court in Wales charged in connection with human trafficking.
47-year-old Thomas John Carroll was one of ten people arrested earlier this week after gardaí and the British authorities launched co-ordinated searches in Ireland and Wales.
The 47-year-old Irishman, with an address at Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire, west Wales, was brought before a court in Lllanelli this morning charged with four offences.
A 31-year-old woman, Shamiela Clark, with the same address was also before the court.
Both are accused of human trafficking into the UK, human trafficking out of the UK, controlling prostitution and money laundering.
They have been remanded in custoy to appear in court again on 16 December.
The seven people arrested here have been released without charge, but files are being prepared for the DPP.
Brothels were searched in Cavan, Drogheda, Athlone, Mullingar, Sligo, Kilkenny, Enniscorthy, Newbridge, and Waterford.
Six other locations in the Carlow area were also searched, including the homes and offices of a number of professional individuals.
