A woman has been killed in a road accident in Co Kerry.

The woman, who is believed to have been in her 40s, died after she was struck by a car at around 5pm on the N69 at Kilflynn Cross.

The road is closed, and is not expected to re-open until tomorrow afternoon. Diversions are in place and motorists have been asked to avoid the route if possible.

Separately, gardaí are investigating an earlier road crash in which an articulated lorry collided with a school bus in Co Waterford.

There were no reports of any serious injuries and there were no children on the bus at the time.

The accident happened on the main Waterford to Cork road near the village of Ardmore this morning.
