A firearm and a quantity of ammunition have been seized in a series of searches which are part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Shane Geoghegan.
A firearm was recovered in a vacant house in the Ballincurra Weston area and 75 rounds of ammuntion were also seized along with a small quantity of drugs.
The finds follow the discovery last Monday morning of 150 rounds of ammunition and cannabis resin believed to be valued at €50,000, in another series of searches in the same area.
Gardaí said the weapon and the ammunition are being forensically examined.
