Almost 700 prosecutions for speeding have been dismissed by the Dublin District Court over the last two weeks.
Over 100 were dismissed this morning, bringing the total to 697 so far.
The cases were dismissed because three local Dublin authorities failed to publish speed limit changes in Iris Oifigiúil, the official State gazette.
Because this was not done the speed limits on a number of roads around the city and county are invalid and it is understood that anyone who has already paid fines can look for their money back.
The gardaí are seeking legal advice on how to deal with the issues.
