Two questioned over Finglas shooting
Saturday, 15 November 2008Gardaí are questioning two men arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Finglas in Dublin this morning.
Detectives believe the gunman fired up to a dozen shots from a semi-automatic pistol.
The 41-year-old was shot twice in the attack near a shopping centre on Cardiffsbridge Road just before midday.
A garda spokesperson said the victim was initially shot as he sat in a car and was shot again as he made his way to the garden of a house.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.
His partner was in the car at the time but was not injured in the incident.
Two men, both aged 20, were arrested after the shooting.
They were taken to Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda Stations.
A number of searches were later carried out across the city.
A van, believed to have been used in the attack, has also been recovered.
Garda Superindentent John Quirke has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
