Galway lecture on Nintendo Wii research

It may have been one of last year's biggest Christmas gifts, but the Nintendo Wii has serious applications too.

A US psychology expert is in Galway today to present research using the Wii to investigate how people make decisions.

Doctor Rick Dale from the University of Memphis conducted experiments using the Wii games console to examine the relationship between mind and body.

The research challenges the idea that people think first and act later.

It also attempts to show that we have a natural bias towards believing things are true.

The study is part of a now well-established practice of using computer games for psychological research.

Dr Dale will present his findings in a lecture at NUI Galway this evening.
