The ongoing problems of cross-border fuel and alcohol smuggling and the renewed threat of illegal dumping is to be discussed at a meeting in Co Fermanagh.
Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy, PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde, Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern and Northern Ireland Security Minister Paul Goggins will take part in the Enniskillen discussions.
The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen cross-border co-operation in fighting crime.
The group will publish a report which details how criminal gangs are exploiting the land border.
During 2005/2006 fuel smuggling and laundering cost €322m (£260m) in lost revenue and the activity continues.
In the first six months of this year, 90,000 litres of smuggled alcohol worth €620,000 (£500,000) were seized. This included some counterfeit spirits.
Illegal dumping is a lucrative business because there is a difference in landfill costs between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
A crackdown by the authorities last year curbed the practice but the report predicts it is increasing again because of the gap in landfill costs.
Customs officials, the Revenue Commissioners and the Assets Recovery Agency will also take part in today's meeting.
