Army bomb disposal teams have made safe viable explosive devices discovered under cars at private houses in Ronanstown and Ballyfermot, in Dublin.
The Defence Forces said both devices appeared similar in construction and were taken away for further examination.
In the Ronanstown find, a member of the public called emergency services after seeing the device under a car.
The area was cordoned off and several houses were evacuated. A controlled explosion was carried out on the device.
The device in Ballyfermot was found under a car on the Ballymeety Road. The immediate area was cordoned off while the device was made safe.
In two other incidents, an old training grenade containing no explosive was found in Coolock.
It was discovered in the course of a planned search by gardaí.
A suspicious object found at Oliver Bond flats, off Thomas Street, was a hoax.
