Ryanair flight halted after 'tail strike'

A Ryanair flight from Dublin to Stansted had to return to Dublin this morning after the aircraft's tail scraped the runway on takeoff.

Ryanair says the plane's tailskid operating flight 208 touched the runway and the plane returned to the airport as a precautionary measure.

A full scale emergency response was enacted by Dublin Airport Authority.

The airline said the 148 passengers disembarked normally, were given free refreshments and accommodated on subsequent flights.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
