A 35-year-old man and a teenager have been arrested after a shooting incident in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin this evening.

At around 5.30pm, an off-duty member of the Gardaí witnessed shots being fired from a car on the Porterstown Road towards St Mochtas halting site.

He saw the car driving off, and notified gardaí in Blanchardstown before following it for a short distance.

Uniformed gardaí in a patrol car found the car at Damastown, where the two men abandoned it and fled on foot.

They were chased by the two unarmed gardaí who had been in the patrol car and were arrested.

A sawn-off shotgun was also recovered.

The pair, aged 35 and 15, are being held at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
