A motorcyclist in his 20s has been killed in a collision with a tractor in Kerry, bringing to five the number of people who have died on Irish roads this weekend.

The crash happened on the Listowel to Abbeyfeale road at around 11am.

A female passenger on the motorcycle, also in her 20s, was injured and was taken to Kerry General Hospital.

The driver of the tractor was not injured.

Two people were also killed in road crashes in counties Tipperary and Westmeath.

In Co Tipperary, a 23-year-old woman died following a single vehicle crash at Kilmacomma in Clonmel at around 3.45am.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital.

Gardaí at Clonmel have appealed for any witnesses to contact them at 052-77640.

In Co Westmeath, a motorcyclist has died after a road crash near Kilbeggan.

The 35-year-old was fatally injured in a collision between two motorcycles at Clonaglin in Kilbeggan at around 3.30pm yesterday. Both riders were taking part in a Charity Motor Cycle Run.

The man was pronounced dead at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.

The second rider was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí at Kilbeggan are appealing for witnesses to contact them at 057 9332102.

Elsewhere, a 70-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car at Summerhill, Tramore, Co Waterford at 7.30pm last night.

In Co Kildare, a 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was involved in a collision with another vehicle at Stramillian, Monasterevin on Friday night.
