Four people have been arrested in connection with fuel laundering in Northern Ireland.

A six-month surveillance operation was carried out across three counties by Revenue and Customs officers.

Thousands of litres of illegal diesel were seized. A lorry that was converted for hiding diesel was found during a raid in Lurgan.

Searches were also carried out in Belfast, Kilkeel and Newry in the last 24 hours.

Four people have been arrested and another person attended for questioning this morning.

The customs service says almost 4,000 litres of illegal fuel was found across the four locations.

That brings the total seized in the operation to over 20,000 litres. 26 vehicles have also been seized.
