Hydrogen cyanide cylinders neutralised

Seven cylinders of hydrogen cyanide that were stored at a Rentokil facility have been chemically neutralised by South Dublin County Council.

US company Integrated Environmental Services, specialists in on-site management of waste, undertook the project at a county council-owned compound at Grange Castle, Co Dublin.

The council says there was no risk to the public but the nearby golf course was closed during the process.

Four IES workers travelled from Atlanta and used specialist equipment flown in from the US to complete the disposal.
