A 35-year-old man who was the victim of an alleged assault on Clonmacnoise Road in Crumlin, Dublin, on 2 July has died at St James's Hospital.

David Rooney of Durrow Road, Crumlin, was pronounced dead yesterday evening.

On Monday a post morten examination will be carried out.

Sundrive Road Garda Station has been investigating the incident.

Gardaí would like anyone who was in the Sundrive Road/Clonmacnoise Circle area on 2 July between 8.30pm and 8.45pm to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station on 01 666 6600.
