Man charged in Bristol assualt case

A 19-year-old has been charged in connection with an incident in Bristol last Friday night, which left a young Munster rugby fan critically injured.

A 19-year-old has been charged in connection with an incident in Bristol last Friday night, which left a young Munster rugby fan critically injured.

James Egan, a 19-year-old from Co Clare, remains in a critical condition in a Bristol hospital.

Mr Egan was staying in the city and was due to travel to Munster's Heineken Cup Final game in Cardiff on Saturday.

British police have confirmed that Mr Egan was assaulted in a bar on Bristol's waterfront at around midnight last Friday.

A 19-year-old man, named as Darren O'Neill from Bristol, was
arrested and has been charged with grievous bodily harm.
