Labour Party Justice Spokesman Pat Rabbitte has said there should be a Dáil debate on the findings of the Morris Tribunal, because there were disturbing allegations of misconduct by gardaí.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio's This Week programme, he also said that the Garda Commissioner should be empowered to discipline members of the force more effectively.
The tribunal found that there had been unlawful arrests in the death of Raphoe cattle dealer Richie Barron as well as improper treatment of some people in custody.
