A number of arrests have been made following the robbery of a security van last Thursday.
The robbery took place when two men, one of whom was believed to be armed, held up security company staff at Nutgrove Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham, Dublin.
The men escaped from the scene in a gold coloured car. The car was later abandoned at Meadow Mount, Churchtown.
This morning, gardaí investigating the incident searched three houses in the Dublin 8 area.
During the course of the searches two handguns and a stolen van were recovered.
Four people have been arrested, three males and a female.
They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations and may be detained for up to 72 hours.
