The wife of a 55-year-old Co Laois man who died following an incident at their home in Ballybrittas last summer has been charged with his murder.
Anne Burke appeared at Portarlington District Court this morning charged with the murder of Pat Burke in Ballybrittas on 19 August last year.
She has been remanded in custody to appear again at Portlaoise District Court on Friday.
Mr Burke died from multiple head injuries following an incident at his house along the main street in Ballybrittas.
The father of four had been working as a groundsman at the Mount St Anne retreat centre at Killenard, and after the incident his wife Anne was also treated at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise for non-life threatening injuries.
