A woman has been charged after the seizure of 3kg of cocaine in Cork yesterday.

Leyra Navas Corrales, with an address in Valencia, Venezuela, appeared before Judge James McNulty earlier this evening charged with three offences following the find at Cork Airport.

Ms Navas Corrales, who is seven months pregnant, made no application for bail and was remanded in custody. She is due to appear at Cork District Court next Wednesday.

In a separate incident, a Cork man was charged in connection with the discovery of more €500,000 worth of cannabis.

Russell McAdoo from Provence, Rochestown Road in Cork was charged with six offences arising from a seizure of herbal cannabis at Maple Court, Mount Oval Estate in Cork yesterday.

The 22-year-old unemployed plumber was remanded in custody with consent to bail. He will also be appearing before Cork District Court next Wednesday.

Another man in his 20s was arrested in Dublin and charged yesterday evening in connection with a seizure of herbal cannabis with a street value of €180,000 and was remanded in custody until next Friday, when he will appear in front of Dublin District Court.
