The father of Paul Quinn, who was killed in Co Monaghan last year, has said he largely agrees with the report of the Independent Monitoring Commission regarding his son's death.
The report found that was no evidence linking the leadership of the IRA to the killing. However, it concluded that members - or former members - of the organisation were involved.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, Paul's father, Stephen, said it would make no difference that members of Sinn Féin had called on anybody with information to go to the PSNI and he described this as spin.
The 21-year-old Co Armagh man received fatal injuries when he was beaten by a gang in a Co Monaghan shed last October.
He had been lured over the border from his Cullyhanna home and attacked by up to 12 men.
Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said there was no ambiguity about his party's position. He said those responsible had been involved in an act of criminality.
Mr Ó Caoláin said their participation in any shape or form in the murder of Paul Quinn criminalised them.
