A 16-year-old boy has been killed in a two-car collision in Co Cork.
The boy was a passenger in one of the cars.
The collision happened at 6.30pm today at Mallow.
The driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital. The driver of the other car was taken to Ardkeen Hospital in Waterford.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
There were no other occupants in the cars.
The road is closed pending a forensic examination tomorrow morning. Diversions are expected to remain in place until about 12pm tomorrow.
Co Carlow collision
Separately, a 25-year-old man was critically injured in a car crash in Co Carlow early this morning.
The two-car crash happened at around 6.30am on the Athy Road coming out of Carlow town.
The man was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny where his condition is said to be critical.
The condition of the other male driver is not yet known.
The section of the R417 was closed following the collision but has since reopened.
