Two charged over assault on teen

Two men have been charged in relation to an assault on a 16-year-old boy in Ballymun, Dublin.

The 16-year-old received severe head injuries in the assault and is in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital, Dublin.

The attack happened at around 10pm last night on Shangan Road.

The men, aged 32 and 23, appeared in court at 4.30pm and were charged with assault causing harm.

They are remanded in custody to appear in Cloverhill Court next Wednesday.

Elsewhere, a 27-year-old man was attacked early this morning in west Belfast.

The incident happened shortly after 1am on the Whiterock Road.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are said to be not life-threatening.

The PSNI says two men have been arrested and are helping with its inquiries.
