The woman involved in the Rath Lugh protest is said to be staying in the 10m deep tunnel tonight.

Lisa Feeney, 23, from Co Kerry is refusing to leave the underground tunnel in protest at the route of the M3 motorway.

Ms Feeney spoke to her father and uncle this evening when they visited the protest site.

She reassured them both that she is well and in good spirits.

According to a spokesperson, Ms Feeney has enough supplies to stay in the tunnel for up to two months.

The protestors are demanding that the route of the M3 be moved away from the national monument at Rath Lugh. They claim the current route is contravening the preservation order on the site.

However after visiting the site, an inspector from the Department of the Environment said the order is not being contravened.

Around 100 protestors have set up camp at the site.

A small number of gardaí and private security personnel are continuing to monitor the protest.
