A 38-year-old man has been given a 24-year jail sentence for what a Belfast High Court judge described as 'probably the worst instance of multiple child abuse I have ever come across'.
Jason King from Balfour Street in Newtownards was convicted of 58 counts involving rape, buggery, indecent assault, gross indecency, inflicting actual bodily harm and taking videos of himself having sex with two of his victims.
The court heard how he subjected nine young girls to years of rape, sexual abuse and violence. He gave schoolgirls aged 12 to 15 alcohol and cigarettes before taking them back to his flat where he raped and abused them.
Following the judgment, many of the victims were angry that the time King has already served on remand is taken into account and because of 50% remission rules, he may be out of jail in 10 years.
The nine victims, including two sisters, were abused over a six year period between 1996 and 2002.
