A case against former Irish international rugby player Eddie Halvey has been adjourned until the next sitting of the Circuit Court in Nenagh on 29 April.

Mr Halvey, 36, of Allendale Court on the South Circular Road in Limerick, is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of 16-year-old Kevin Walsh from Bruff, Co Limerick, on 1 April 2006.

Kevin Walsh was the back-seat passenger in a car being driven by his uncle when it was in collision with Mr Halvey's car near Toomevara, Co Tipperary.

Mr Walsh's family had been informed last month that the DPP was dropping the charge of dangerous driving causing death against Mr Halvey.

They had anticipated that the charge would be formally withdrawn at Nenagh Circuit Court today.

However, in court today counsel for the DPP said it was seeking an adjournment as the director was considering further information imparted to him.

Counsel representing Mr Halvey said they were informed by phone last Friday night of this fact and they were asking for this further information to be disclosed to them.
