A father and his 19-year-old son are said to be in a critical condition in hospital following a petrol bomb attack on their Co Tyrone home.

A petrol bomb was thrown through the front window of a bungalow at Churchill Road in Caledon. The village is close to the border with Co Monaghan.

Ashley Houston and his 19-year-old son Johnny were seriously injured in the blaze that followed.

They were taken to the Craigavon Area Hospital but were later transferred to the burns unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast.

The area around the house was sealed off as forensic experts examined the scene.

A definite motive has not been established but a paramilitary or sectarian link is thought to be unlikely.

Last year another son of Mr Houston, 20-year-old Samuel, was jailed for the manslaughter of a man in Caledon in 2004.
